A little further down, along the narrow path that leads to La Peinada, avoiding the cactus hills and guided by the head of the “barbusano” tree, is the house of Petra Medina. Social differences separate it from the house of the Tres Pinos. Although they maintained a conventional friendship, more due to their proximity and necessity, than through sympathetic relations, they always remained somewhat distant from each other, and although these houses were different, they boasted to their neighbors of their softwood roof, which, over time, would demonstrate its solidity and survival. Her reference was the sea, the eternal sea, to which she always raised her gaze when the needle made a stop in its tireless turn, leaving on the tablecloths a filigree of delicate embroidery. Petra, Juana, Severa, and Lina learned their mother’s trade in the hydrangea hut, while they sang folk songs and hoped with delusion to move to the house they were building on the edge of the new road. Years later, Lina Medina would turn the abandoned house into a wine cellar, so that those who entered would feel the overwhelming desire to enjoy a good glass of wine on a clear night while contemplating the most starry sky in the world.

The Lina Medina Farmhouse is located in Villa de Mazo, also known as Villa del Corpus, which is celebrated every day with singular devotion, through the making of tapestries, arches, and rugs artistically decorated with plant products, in which the art and talent of the men and women of this village is reflected.
Mazo is an eminently agricultural and rural village, like the entire island of La Palma, but it is also a village with a culture. Countless illustrious sons have emerged from it, of which the ‘mazuqueros’ are rightly very proud.
Crafts play a fundamental role for its inhabitants, especially for the women, who are renowned embroiderers. In the town center, there is a craft school where various types of courses are given. In ‘Hoyo de Mazo’, in el Molino, Ramón y Vina have a ceramics workshop, where they faithfully craft the extraordinary native ceramics.
Its main source of wealth is wine, and in particular the famous red wines of Hoyo, which are marketed by a winegrowers’ association.
The temple of its patron saint, San Blas, is a beautiful three-nave building from the 16th century.

Villa de Mazo is a village of artisan tradition, and we find a sample of this in the arches and tapestries that adorn the streets of the municipality during the “Corpus Christi” festival, declared of National Tourist Interest and which can be observed, for example in the Red House Museum,with some embroidery samples.
